If you’ve shuffled through even one of my other releases, you’ll know that I love the “mix-it-up” approach. A bit of jazz, a bit of rock, some world music, all blended into one album.
“Portraits” is a bit different in that the whole album is softer and impressionistic.  There are plenty of good fusion tunes in the works for the next release, but this CD is all about gentle.

If you watch this page regularly, you will know that last week we released a new CD called "Portraits". Normally, our post today would be all about the new project, clips, where to buy and so forth.
However - - 
Our friends and neighbors in a few eastern Iowa towns are dealing with the second "once-in-a-lifetime" historic flooding of the Cedar River (and other rivers too) in 8 years.
So, our thoughts are with them today.
Eight years ago, we "learned" the old-timey favorite "Down To The River" and began playing it at our gigs as a way of "praying" for our friends involved in the flooding back then. 
It's hard to believe it's all happening again.... 
Please join us in sending up "prayers" or "thoughts" or whatever you want to call them for those dealing with this flooding. 
On a more concrete level, the Red Cross and United Way are both accepting donations to help.

This week's tune was written in memory of a man who would have turned 32 late last week. He was taken from this world 3 years ago and we wrote the tune as a way to try to help bring healing to those who loved him. We share it today in his memory, yes, but also ask you to listen to it, share it, and maybe get a bit of healing from it too.

Happy May Monday! We are so glad to finally say the words, "Welcome May"! We have a big week coming up....Catherine & James will be playing at The Market Café , 4035 Mt Vernon Rd SE, Cedar Rapids on Friday, 5/6, for a "pre-Mother's Day" evening of dinner with music... 5-8pm, bring your mom and come on out. Then, Mt. Vernon's annual Chalk the Walk 2016 takes place on Saturday and Sunday (May 7&8) and we will be playing on Sunday afternoon at 2pm. This is a fantastic event full of art, music and fun for the whole family.
When you come out on Sunday afternoon, you'll probably hear this week's tune.... "Ida Y Vuelta" which also ties in to Cinco De Mayo, which is Thursday.... so here's the tune
